Planting trees in the community

Eco-Schools can help you make community links

The Eco-Schools programme is designed to involve as many people as possible, both inside and outside school, to raise their awareness of environmental issues and to improve the community spirit of an area, helping everyone to become involved in the decision-making of their local area.

The school community includes pupils, teachers, non-teaching staff, governors, parents and other relatives, local clubs, associations and businesses in the local area.

Within this community there will be a wealth of knowledge and expertise your Eco-School may be able to use. For example, there may be a local bricklayer or plumber that could offer you advice on setting up your school in a more eco-friendly manner or perhaps even spare you a little of their time and expertise.

What are the other benefits?
