Eco-Schools Delivers Sustainable Schools
In July 2007 Eco-Schools was asked to convene a meeting between the various programmes, schemes and awards which supported the Sustainable Schools Strategy.
The aim of that group was to produce a guidance document for schools, which simply and clearly identified how they could each help schools on their sustainable journey.
Following a thorough consultation the document, entitled:
'Sustainable Schools: How national recognition schemes can support your school's progress'
was published on the 21st July via teachernet.
The document clearly shows that Eco-Schools is the only National Scheme which meets all 8 doorways of the sustainable schools strategy across School Campus, Curriculum and Community.
There are seven schemes acknowledged within the document:
Eco-Schools
Food for Life partnership mark
Healthy Schools
International School Award
RHS Campaign for School Gardening
Rights Respecting Schools Award
RSPB Wildlife Action Awards
All the schemes compliment each other and also play a fantastic role in suporting Schools on their Sustainable journey.
