Eco-Schools Show 2009
Wednesday 24th June at Stoneleigh Conference and Exhibition Centre near Coventry.
sponsored by:

a programme developed by EDF Energy
This year's event showcased some of the fantastic work Eco-Schools across the country
have done as part of their sustainable journey, from working farms to wind turbines and beyond. This year’s event
was also a bit of a celebration as the number of Eco-Schools registered in England recently passed 50% of all English schools. We also launched our brand new ‘Eco-Heroes’ Award, recognising those people who go the extra mile to support young people via Eco-Schools.

Features
This year's event featured:
Presentation Hall

‘Busta, our Compere’
Presentations took place every half hour throughout the day. ‘Buster’, the Wastebuster blue monkey
was at the helm to steering our speakers effortlessly through the days programme. Highlights for this year will include Jan Erikson the President of FEE (responsible for Eco-Schools Internationally) who, with our Chief Executive Phil Barton,
who presented our first ever ‘Eco-Hero’ Awards . We are keeping the new Award a little’ hush hush’ for now but check back nearer the day for more details.
Exhibition Area
This year's Exhibition area featured 50 different stands, with all exhibitors displaying relevant and exciting information or products for Eco-Schools.
Last year the Exhibition proved incredibly popular with stands being inundated
with requests from attendees.
Workshops
This year we had three large workshop rooms which could hold up to 60 people each. Two of the rooms delivered sessions for younger people whilst one featured workshops for our older visitors.
Ask the Experts
We had an Ask the Experts area, where Schools could book in advance of the
Event to sit down with an expert and discuss their own school, issues and
priorities and get some one to one advice on how best to push on towards Green
Flag. The sessions ran on the half hour with 25 minutes allocated per
school.
Activity Zone
This year several short activities were held for pupils in the Activity Zone. Activities
were around 20-30 minutes in length and were offered ona first come
first servered basis. Teachers should be aware that pupils may have to queue to participate in an activity.
Eco-Schools Show 2008
The 2008 National Exhibition and Conference was the biggest Eco-Schools conference ever held in England. The Exhibition, at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool, attracted over 1,800 attendees from schools, local authorities and a host of charities from all over the country. We even had visitors on the day from as far away as South Africa and Tanzania.
