Volunteer with us

What our volunteers do

Our volunteers visit schools to carry out Eco-Schools Green Flag assessments.

As a Volunteer Eco-Schools Assessor you will visit schools in your area to help us assess whether a school has met the criteria required to achieve the Eco-Schools Green Flag.

An assessment visit will usually last between one and two hours and you will be fully trained beforehand.

There are many benefits associated with being an Eco-Schools Volunteer Assessor

Benefits include:

  • Experience of working with schools
  • Learn more about how schools operate
  • Receive professional volunteering training
  • Meet others interested in the Eco-Schools programme
  • Gain inspiration from real-life examples of environmental action and learning
  • Develop skills in communication, observation and assessment
  • Practice report writing and administration skills

Training session

All Volunteer Assessors must attend a training session before their first assessment. We hold training sessions around the country throughout the year. Our Events pages list upcoming training sessions.

To ensure the safety and well-being of all children, staff and volunteers we carry out a safeguarding check before accepting you as a Volunteer Assessor.
