Looking for a Biodiversity Topic – try the Pod’s What’s Under Your Feet? campaign this June!
What’s Under Your Feet? is the Pod’s citizen science activity which is run in collaboration with the British Trust for Ornithology.
Hundreds of UK schools have taken part so far – digging up soil squares (at their school or local green space), counting invertebrates and submitting their data on the Pod which is then passed on to scientists at the BTO.
The next dig is in June and here are some reasons why your school should take part:
- It can support you Eco-Schools award as a Biodiversity activity which can be be run by your Eco Club, and gets them outside the classroom
- It’s great fun – involving digging, exploration and examination and gives students an idea of what it’s like to be an ecologist or research scientist
- You’ll find all of the resources you need to run the experiment on the Pod – they’re free, curriculum linked and easy to use
- By taking part and sending us your data your school will be contributing to an important scientific study
Plus – for schools who submit their data before June 18th, there is a chance to win a camera nest box kit and wildlife bundle, kindly donated by CJ Wildlife!*
