Earth Cubs

Earth Cubs exists to inspire kids to learn the World!

The minute we read about ‘Nigel the Nervous Narwhal’ and his adventures in the Arctic we knew we had to work with Earth Cubs. Their bright and informative resources and lessons are perfect Step 4 Curriculum Link evidence for Early Years and Primary Eco-Schools when applying for our international Eco-Schools Green Flag. Not only that, their education packs, comics, activities and learning app all mean that our schools can continue their eco-action with remote learning challenges suitable for all the family.

It was hard to pick… but here are three examples of some quick and simple, exciting activities for your Eco-Committees to try either at school or at home.

We are also really excited to have mapped our Eco-Schools topics to many of the Earth Cub resources- when you head over to their website look out for our official Eco-Schools Topic logos on certain resources that we especially like. Not only that,  Earth Cubs have also kindly offered to make several new resources especially for our Healthy Living and School Grounds topics, so watch this space over the coming months for new education packs!

What was also very important to us at Eco-Schools when partnering with Earth Cubs was that all their great resources have been created by a former teacher, Kelly. Like us at Eco-Schools and many of our Eco-Coordinators Kelly and the rest of the Earth Cubs team understand how important it is to include eco-education in all areas of the curriculum and know what does and does not work in a classroom setting when trying to teach little ones about how to protect our precious planet!

Here’s what Kelly had to say: “Earth Cubs world is fun, positive and designed to sow the seeds of global wonder. Big issues are woven throughout real world topics, broken down into meaningful, and memorable learning opportunities. I work for Earth Cubs because I feel passionate about giving young children the same opportunities and knowledge as their older peers. Early Years experiences can, and will, create a solid foundation for lifelong sustainability.”
