What is Eco-Schools?

Eco-Schools is a global programme engaging 19.5 million children across 67 countries, making it the largest educational programme on the planet.

For over 25 years Eco-Schools has been empowering children to drive change and improve their environmental awareness through the simple Seven-Step framework in order to achieve the international Eco-Schools Green Flag.

Eco-Schools develops pupils’ skills, raises environmental awareness, improves the school environment and creates financial savings for schools as well as a whole host of other benefits.

Want to get involved?

Apart from registering as an Eco-School, there are a variety of ways in which you can get involved in the programme. If you are a business, national charity or Local Authority  you can partner with us to support schools.

As an individual you can also become an Eco-Schools Green Flag Assessor, we rely on our enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to assess schools across England.

In response to COVID-19, the Eco-Schools team has adapted our Eco-Schools Green Flag criteria. You can find this update in the Inspiration then News section of our website or by clicking here.

We have also moved our training sessions for this academic year online. You can find out more about our online training sessions in the Get Involved section or by clicking here.

Finally, we are still awarding Eco-School Green Flag accreditation, but due to COVID-19 guidance and restrictions we are assessing based on electronic application alone. If you want further information about the application process please get in touch.

Stay safe and as always thank you for your support,

The Eco-Schools team.
